Manna Outreach and Resource reaches out to serve diverse individuals, families, and communities in a number of ways; such as supportive services and social programs.  Medical/Dental Clinic Staff and Assistants - Medical and Dental Clinics are 100% volunteer staffed! 

·        Doctors, dentists, nurses, and physician assistants who can donate their skills, clinic, and services to our clients.

·        Must be able to handle confidential information professionally and responsibly.

·        Must be at least 18 years of age.

Childcare Center Assistants (10+ week commitment preferred)                        

·        Individuals to assist with snack time, clean up and nap time, and reading to and playing with children; Volunteers will always be in the presence and under the direction of a classroom teacher.

·        Must be able to provide a 2-4 hour block of time for a minimum of one day a week between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

·        Must pass a criminal history background check.

·        Must be at least 18 years of age.

 Student Intern (Minimum 10 week commitment required)

·        Individuals to act as agency receptionist, answering phones, greeting visitors, assisting with medical clinic clients, providing information and referral, assisting with food pantry, and ensuring client compliance with rules and policies.

·        Must participate in a one-time Volunteer Training and Orientation Event before beginning volunteer service.*

·        Must be able to handle emotional and high-pressure situations, including dealing with unstable or disgruntled clients, calming down people who call or come in needing help in emergency situations and be able to refer them to proper resources.

·        Must pass a criminal history background check.

·        Must be able to handle confidential information professionally and responsibly.

·        Must be at least 18 years of age.

Student Internships
On-the-job training positions as unpaid interns are often available for school credit in conjunction with your department at a college or university.

 

 

Social Services Internships

Social Services Interns work closely with our Social Services Coordinator and our Social Services Assistants to provide crisis intervention, information, and referrals, assist with client intake, supervise the shelter, assist with the food pantry, teach Transitional Classes pertaining to life skills and self-sufficiency, and assist with front desk duties. Social Services Internships provide valuable hands-on experience working with clients struggling with chronic poverty, mental illness, alcohol or drug addiction, and victims of domestic abuse, as well as opportunities to see how a non-profit social services agency provides services and resources to tackle social problems in their community.  Each academic term, there are six Social Services Internships positions available. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply.
 


Student Internships/Counseling

Graduate students enrolled in mental health or addictions counseling programs have the opportunity to complete their practicum and/or internship hours at Manna Outreach and Resource . Opportunities for direct experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling are available. Students will work under a Treatment Program Coordinator (Licensed Professional Counselor) with the opportunity to serve individuals, families and groups. Interns will learn treatment planning, note taking, individual and group counseling skills, professional ethics, and application of their chosen theory. Graduate interns are required to videotape a certain percentage of their caseload to aid in supervision. There are also opportunities for internships hours for individuals earning their Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC) certification. Currently, we have capacity for two Counseling Interns per academic term.


 
One-Time Volunteer Opportunities or Group Service Projects

·        Don’t have time to volunteer on a regular basis but still want to help? Looking for a group service project for your club or organization? Occasionally throughout the year we need extra help for special events, projects, supply drives, building maintenance, yard work, and fundraisers.

·        You can sign up to be on our volunteer e-mail list and be notified when we need help with an upcoming event or project.

Supply Drives

·        Individuals and organizations can also donate items or hold supply drives and deliver the proceeds to Manna Outreach and Resource Center

·        Please see our Supply Drive Wish List for ideas of needed items

·        Donations can be delivered to Manna Outreach Friday, 10pm to 2pm

Court-Ordered Community Service
Manna Outreach and Resource  is able to fulfill a court-ordered community service requirement dependent upon an individual’s crime. These positions are limited in number and are restricted in schedule and type of work available.
